When you start windows the 2020 Fusion Background.exe will launch automatically to continue processing any background prints, exports, 360° Panorama's, movies or renders you have instigated. In addition to this, when you launch 2020 Fusion the OnlineTransferTool.exe will initiate to check for any uninstalled catalogue updates. Both of these can result in the error message below when trying to run a 2020 Fusion Update Installer.
As of version 8 the notification pop up has been improved to display what processes are preventing the installer from running.
Solution
1. Check that you have exited 2020 Fusion - if you haven't then exit 2020 Fusion and click Retry. This may take a minute or so for 2020 Fusion to completely exit all of it's running processes. You can check this within the Task Manager as 2020 Fusion after exiting will move from Processes to Background Processes before exiting completely.
2. Check that the 2020 Fusion Background.exe is not running by following Cannot Upgrade My Fusion as Fusion background exe is Still Running
Then click Retry on the Installer error message.
3. If this still fails the click in the bottom left and type Task Manager
Select Open and look for the below.
Select the OnlineTransferTool line and End Task.
Please note that the OnlineTransferTool Icon should also show in the Minimised Icons Tray outlined in Cannot Upgrade My Fusion as Fusion background exe is Still Running Article. It is advised that you double click the icon in the tray to restore the download window to see the progress before selecting to End Task as this can result in "Uninstalled Updates"
Click on Retry. Should the Installer still fail to run the update then please contact your local support representative.
