How can a user show an island in a design without displaying the objects behind it?
When a design includes an island and the elevation view needs to only show the island, the user will need to insert a virtual wall. Here is how to properly use the virtual walls in order to hide any objects behind the island. (Click here to learn How to Add and Use Virtual Walls in 2020 Fusion)
1. Select Display Elevation from the View tab of the ribbon.
2. In this example, Wall 1 appears like so.
Since a virtual wall was placed in the design, there will be a new tab named 'Virtual Wall.' Selecting the Virtual Wall tab will display in Elevation view and will hide the wall behind it as shown in the example below.
3. Recalling from Step 3, the virtual wall was drawn between the island and the wall. However, notice that only the wall remains hidden when selected in the Virtual Wall tab in Elevation view. The objects behind the virtual wall such as the guitar in this example still appear. To hide such items, click on the Options drop-down arrow located in the File menu.
4. With the Options drop-down menu open, select Filter Behind Primary Wall and this will add a check mark to this selection. When this is done, the objects behind the virtual wall will no longer be visible in Elevation view when the tab for the virtual wall is active.
